My Journey into Digital Products: Starting Something New

Starting anything new can be daunting and, quite often, scary. Whether it’s applying for a new job, striking up a conversation at a party, or walking into a new gym—it’s challenging. But starting a new business? That’s a whole different level.

The Start of My Journey

I never thought of myself as particularly artistic. I always admired people who could draw, paint, or create something beautiful out of seemingly nothing. I stuck to what I was good at: finance, languages, cooking, and DIY – practical, non-arty stuff.

A little while ago, I decided to start an online business, not just any business, but one creating digital products. I was confident in the business side of things (I was running my own property management company at the time), but the creative part terrified me.

Questions flooded my mind. How do I even start creating? What if no one likes what I make? Where do I sell these creations?

My First Steps into Digital Products

The internet had so much advice about digital product creation – too much, really. I spent too much time wading through conflicting opinions and endless choices, but after much soul-searching, I decided to try my hand at creating and selling digital products on Etsy.

I started with floral calendars because I’m a bit of an obsessive planner, so it was a logical choice. To my surprise, they began selling here and there, and I felt a rush of excitement.

But then life took over. My day job became more demanding, and my new venture had to take a backseat for a while.

Fast forward a few years: I closed my company and finally have the time to focus on my online business. By now however, the landscape had changed. Competition had grown fierce, but luckily, so had the opportunities.

I’ve been creating and selling digital products for a few months now, and it’s been an exciting journey. I’ve been learning and discovering so much and would really love to share my experiences and lessons I’ve learned so far with others who are curious about starting their own creative digital business.

My Reasons for the 31-Day Challenge

That’s why I’m taking part in this 31-day Ultimate Blog Challenge. Over the next month, I want to share what I’ve learned and what I’m still learning, in the hope that it might help others dip their toes into this exciting world. I also want to build a community of like-minded creatives to share this journey with and support each other along the way.

Whether you’re just curious, starting out, or already on your journey, I’m here to share my wins, struggles, and tips. You can read more about me and what I’m hoping to achieve here.
